Annual reports : state publication, 1940-[ongoing].

The annual reports of the Board contain general discussions on the nature of probation and parole, a history of the Board and its duties, a list of personnel by position, a statement of the cost of operations, an explanation of the Board's procedure for paroles, and a description of victim's rights. Statistics measure the total number of paroles considered, denied, granted, declared delinquent, and revoked, with retrospective data; state inmates paroled and revoked, by county; the total number of probations granted and revoked, with retropective data; probations granted and revoked, by counties; total pardons and restorations; total parole and probation supervisions; cases supervised; and investigations. Earlier reports contain more information: a list of probation officers and their districts; declarations and letters of advocacy; a discussion and chart of the organization of the Board; definitions of the terms "pardon," "parole," and "probation;" data on fines and forfeitures and indeterminate sentence releases; a discussion of cooperative functions; and an evaluation. Statistics detail paroles and probations by county and by age, race, sex, offense, and employment; the penal population and numbers of paroles granted, denied, revocations by cause, percentage of failures, and discharges; and probations granted, by county and by revocation by cause, percentage of failure, and discharges. From 1946 to 1971, with the exception of fiscal year 1952, the reports are almost entirely statistical in nature and in transcript form. Titled the (ordinal number) Annual Statistical Report, they include lists of personnel by position, costs of operations, and data on paroles, probations, pardons, remissions of fines and forfeitures, and interstate relations. Predecessor annual reports appear in publications of the Board of Pardons and of the Governor.
